Andrew Tate is an American-British social media influencer, former professional kickboxer, and highly divisive internet personality. He is best known for promoting controversial viewpoints related to the "manosphere," hyper-masculinity, wealth creation, and extreme anti-feminist rhetoric. 

Tate and his brother, Tristan, are currently held in federal custody in Miami, Florida, fighting extradition to the United Kingdom on a massive wave of criminal charges including rape, human trafficking, and severe pornography offenses.

Background and Rise to Fame

• Kickboxing Career: Before social media, Tate was a professional kickboxer who won four world championships under the nickname "the Cobra".

• Big Brother (2016): He first reached public notoriety as a contestant on the UK reality show Big Brother but was removed after a video surfaced showing him allegedly hitting a woman.

• Hustlers University: Tate capitalized on his growing internet fame by launching "Hustlers University" (later realigned into different brand names), a subscription-based online academy that used affiliate marketing to aggressively flood platforms like TikTok with his clips.

• Social Media Influence: He has amassed over 10 million followers on X but remains heavily banned or restricted on major platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram due to hate speech violations.

Legal Troubles and Allegations

Tate’s business operations and personal conduct have made him the target of severe, multi-national criminal investigations:

• UK Charges and Miami Arrest: In July 2026, the UK's Crown Prosecution Service brought 38 new criminal counts against the Tate brothers involving multiple victims. Andrew Tate faces charges including seven counts of rape, three counts of sex trafficking, three counts of assault, and 19 counts involving extreme pornography and indecent images of a child. Following these charges, US Marshals arrested the brothers in Miami, where they remain in jail pending extradition hearings.

• Romanian Criminal Trial: Prior to his recent arrest in the United States, Tate lived in Romania beginning in 2016. In December 2022, Romanian authorities arrested him on charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming an organized criminal group to sexually exploit women. That case has faced various procedural delays but remains active alongside the UK's legal actions.
